Meissen Very Rare Topographical Cup and Tray-Saucer, c.1880

The cup with a very finely painted panel of Leipzig Marketplace with buildings and numerous people strolling through the square, within a scrolled gilt cartouche, the tray-saucer similarly decorated but with a panel of flowers and a scroll moulded rococo rim and standing on a raised foot, all reserved on a cobalt blue and gilt ground. Blue crossed swords to bases, the cup with black painted script title Leipzig Marktplatz, the saucer with incised model number R 156.
Dimensions: Cup - 7 cm high x 8 cm diameter; Saucer - 22.8 cm x 13.2 cm at widest points.
