Meissen Comport with Ram Heads & Sheep Scene, c.1850

An unusual comport, the pierced oval basket flanked by two bronzed gilt rams’ heads and applied with a garland of leaves and ribbon, the interior painted with scenes of sheep at pasture and floral bouquets, the base further applied with a garland of roses and foliage through gilt rings, painted with floral sprigs and gilding. Underglaze blue crossed swords to base, c.1850.
Width 30 cm (11.75 inches), depth 22 cm (8.75 inches), height 18 cm (7 inches).
