Meissen Pierced Bowl with Lovers, c.1880

A finely decorated bowl painted with a large panel of lovers sat in a rural setting, she beside a table and taking a warm drink, he pointing into the distance, a castle in the background, and bordered with stylised floral piercing highlighted in subtle tones of pink, turquoise with gilt, and bands of gilding to the exterior. Underglaze blue crossed swords, c.1880.
23.5 cm (9.25 inches) diameter, 6 cm (2.25 inches) high.
