Meissen Onion Pattern Inkwell Set, c.1890

A beautifully proportioned inkwell set comprising of a tray, moulded to fit the two lidded inkpots, decorated in the famous ‘Zwiebelmuster’, or ‘Onion’, pattern in depths of blue on a bright white porcelain ground, with the crossed words marks featuring at the base of the flower stems. Underglaze blue crossed swords to base of tray, blue crossed swords to bases of inkpots, c.1890.
Width 22 cm (8.75 inches), depth 15 cm (6 inches), height 5.5 cm (2.25 inches).
