Meissen Large Study of a Macaw with Cherries, c.1880

A wonderful study of a Macaw, first modelled by J.J. Kaendler, the plumage realistically decorated in bright blue, green, yellow and red enamels, the head cocked to the left and clasping two cherries in one claw, stood on a tree stump on a rocky base encrusted with scattered flowers. Blue crossed swords to base, circa 1880.
