KPM Berlin Art Nouveau Bust Emblematic of Flora, c.1918

Very finely decorated with applied flowers and foliage in a garland to her hair, with a delicate butterfly on her shoulder, and mounted upon a scrolled plinth painted with four panels of flowers in the Weichmalerei (soft painting) style of decoration, heightened throughout with soft gilt detail, including to the encrusted garland. Underglaze blue sceptre, overglaze red printed orb, impressed 3558, impressed ciphers to the base of plinth, the underside of bust with blue sceptre, red orb, impressed 3558 and impressed year code S to an unglazed base, circa 1918.
