Coalport Pair of Vases with Scenes of The Grampians, c.1885

A delightful pair of vases of unusual form. Hand painted with scenic panels of the Grampians within a shield shaped cartouche on a turquoise ground, the reverse embellished with raised gilt, red and white jewel-like enamels. Richly gilded handles, inside of necks 'sponge' gilded and underside of bases with a marble effect. Green printed mark and puce script title ‘Grampians’ to bases, c.1885.
