Very finely painted after Hans Makart (1840-84) with 'The Hunt of Diana' of 1879, depicting six nymphs and a stag in a river, the reverse with a panel of a serene landscape, reserved on a mainly burgundy ground embellished with raised gilt floral and foliate garlands and scrollwork, with additional rectangular panels to the sides decorated with raised gilt scrolled motifs on blue, peach, pink and yellow grounds, the cover with gilt knop finial. Overglaze blue beehive/shield mark to base, circa 1900.
