History

Reinhold Boeltzig (1863-1939) used this work of art to present the new influences that sport had on the female ideal of beauty. His sculpture was inspired by the Ball Player, which had been created twelve years earlier by the artist Walter Schott and also produced in porcelain at the Meissen manufactory.
