German pair of pot pourri vases and covers

Helena Wolfsohn — circa 1870
£1500 pair

Each decorated with rural panels to one side and floral bouquets to the other. The handles are encrusted with trailing stems of flowers extending on to the body of the vases. The centres of the flower heads on the collars of the vases are cut out to allow the pot pourri to emit its perfume. The finials of the covers are modelled as great tits sitting on a branch and devouring an insect.

Underglaze blue AR monogram to the base of each vase for the Helena Wolfsohn manufactory.
